The Great Depression nearly finished western Canadian polo. Strong clubs and fine teams from Winnipeg to Vancouver quickly fell by the wayside and many would never be seen again. Those which did survive saw their playing memberships sink into the single digits. Although the game had begun to recover before another World War closed the Second Era of Western polo, the prospects for the post-war years did not look bright.
